How can I tell my little one about Jesus? How can I introduce Him to my child?
Introducing Jesus to your children can be quite a challenge, especially since they have young minds. These children may have a tough time understanding what and who Jesus is. We believe that it is important for parents to instill Christ in their children’s mind, heart, and soul. That is why we came up with seven tips to help you through this.
- Take a walk in nature and talk about the Creation
Summer is coming and kids love it. You can use this coming season to plan fun and exciting activities that can introduce Jesus. Show God’s wonderful creation to your young ones. Tell them about the sun, trees, flowers, and animals. Children have this natural sense of curiosity in them. We are sure that they will ask you who made it in no time. When that moment comes, this is your chance to talk about the creation story.
- Find a good kid’s Bible and read it regularly
Kid’s Bibles are now available anywhere and you have a wide range of choices. Look for a good one. Instead of reading the usual bedtime stories, you can read biblical stories to your children before bedtime instead. Make sure to read it to them regularly.
- Watch animations
Instead of letting your children watch regular cartoons like SpongeBob Square Pants, Sophia or Barney, why don’t you use this opportunity to show them animated biblical stories? There are a lot of videos on Youtube. All you have to do is search for one. They would be so excited to watch videos they won’t even realize you’re slowly introducing them to Christianity.
- Pray together
What better way to teach a child how to pray than to show how it is done? Pray with your children during meal time and bedtime. Establish a regular routine of praying in your home. When there is good news, thank the Lord in prayer and during difficult times, ask the Lord’s help. Teach your children how to pray to ask for blessing and comfort or to pray as a form of conversation to God.
- Be an example
Be an example and let your children see what knowing Christ can do to a person. Be their example of faith. What better way for your children to grow up as Christians than to learn from you. Of course, no one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. It is in these circumstances that you should show your children how Jesus dwells with you.
